About me

I began my Yoga practice in 1987, having already trained in Karate and studied Hebrew Kabbalah along with many and various world religions and belief systems, with Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, studying under Guru Sangat Singh, Shiv Charan Singh and Guru Dharam Singh. I also learned Gatka.

Circumstances led me to begin teaching within two years, and this prompted study across a range of approaches, including  exploration of Vinyasa Krama. Interests in movement and meditation led to experimentation with Osho’s dynamic meditations in my teaching.

While studying and performing in a variety of traditional dance and contemporary dance styles, I underwent training with VTOL Dance Co., Russel Maliphant, Kirstie Simson, Scott Clark, Motionhouse, Angus Balbirnie and Stephen Petronio amongst others.

Yoga was used to inform my movement, choreography and teaching during this time, and in the study of various martial arts especially Aikido under Senseis Minoru Kanetsuka and William Smith, it proved invaluable in a supplementary and rehabilitative capacity.

In a career in Social Services I worked with Yoga to improve quality of life for many client groups including young people, adults with physical and mental health problems, and those with learning difficulties.

In recent years my Yoga practice has been influenced by the approach of Erich Schiffmann, and by Ashtanga Yoga. Study with David Swenson, Edward Clark, Sharat Rangaswami, Godfrey Devereaux, and others has developed my understanding.

In a return to performing in 1999, I worked on a video performance project with internationally acclaimed Tripsichore Yoga Theatre Company.

As well as certification in teaching Yoga, Yoga Therapy, and Stress Management Trainer/Consultant, I qualified as an NLP Master Practitioner.

Working in London for 8 years I taught Yoga classes, private lessons, and workshops across a number of London boroughs with clients including athletes, dancers, colleges, universities, health clubs, and local authority departments.

Since relocating to Bournemouth, Dorset, I continue to develop my teaching based on my personal practice, my varied influences, and the feedback from my clients and students.

I have led Yoga holidays in Turkey, again revisited teaching dance and performing both in the UK and in Russia.

I am Registered Yoga teacher, at the level of Yoga elder, in the Independent Yoga Network.

I now offer Yoga Teacher Training, allowing trainees to gain the ability to begin teaching themselves.
